Is it wise to own guard dogs?
Guard dogs aren’t always shown in a positive light, and that’s understandable to some degree, after all they can be pretty intimidating. On the other hand, it’s their job to deter people and scare them, and they’re not going to do that in a bow tie with a cuddly toy in their mouth.
Remember, guard dogs are simply just dogs that have been well trained, and popular breads include German shepherds, Rottweilers, Dobermans and Great Danes to name a few. Any guard dog requires intense training at a very young age, and the saying is certainly true…
“You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.”
In terms of security, a guard dog is a wise investment, but he or she still needs to be loved and treated like a pet, so it’s important to find the right balance between training and bonding.
