The Growing Threat of Cyber Attacks

Living in the age of technology means that physical security is not the only security that is essential. Cyber security is increasingly more important due to the immense amount of sensitive and personal information that is stored virtually. Cyber attacks can happen on a personal and business level so it is important to do what you can to mitigate these incidents. According to the NCSC and CISA, hackers “frequently target organisations in order to collect bulk personal information, intellectual property and intelligence that aligns with national priorities.”

The UK government’s Cyber Security Breaches Survey 2020 warns businesses about this ever-growing concern, claiming that 46 percent of all business have suffered a cyber breach or attack in the last 12 months, with 32 percent of them having experienced attacks at least once a week. The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and the U.S. counterpart, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), issued a warning in May about cyber-attacks against healthcare research and policy.

The protection of your personal information should always be of the highest priority, at home and online by only using secured and trusted sites. If you happen to be a business owner, it is your duty to ensure that cyber security is taken very seriously in your company and that every precaution is taken to ensure the protection of your customer information.
