To become a bodyguard, you need to develop a wide range of skills including surveillance, firearm skills, security planning and threat assessment. Some contracts will be more dangerous than others, but whether you’re offering protection to a nightclub, an event, a restaurant or a VIP, you have to be prepared for the worst.

Training can be a lengthy process, and you not only need to develop an excellent understanding, you have to make sure you’re physical condition is excellent, whilst you need to demonstrate quick reflexes and learn how to cope with different types of attacks.

As a bodyguard, you may be the difference between somebody getting killed or somebody returning home safely. For job opportunities, you will need to acquire a Level 3 Physical Intervention qualification, and it’s vital that you choose an approved provider. Being a bodyguard can be a very rewarding job, but you do have to be incredibly determined if you want to make your way to the top.
