How to Choose the Right CCTV System

February 28, 2021 Comments Off on How to Choose the Right CCTV System By Andy

Considering adding or upgrading the CCTV system to your property can be a daunting experience, as there are so many options out there. There are a few factors to consider, when choosing which system will work best for your home or business.

CCTV System Choosing Tips

1. Invest in Quality: it can be tempting to go for the cheaper, unbranded camera or system, but that would be a mistake and actually cost you more if it doesn’t work out and you have to replace it. It is much better to invest in a reputable security company or brand. If your budget is tight, start with a small, good quality, entry level system that has the capacity to add more cameras later on.

2. Check Warranties: a reputable security company will most likely sell CCTV systems with a warranty of up to three year and installation options. Unbranded cameras may only come with a six month product guarantee, which may even prove difficult to access, if the equipment were to fail, within that time.

3. Research Basic Camera Capabilities: consider what lens size, wide angle degree and memory storage you will require. Wide angle will capture a larger area but be less focused. For every millimetre of lens size, that is basically how far away, in metres, the camera can view. There are also three types of camera on the market: entry level analogue, High Definition (HD) and the high-end Internet protocol (IP).

With a bit of research and consideration as to what the camera needs to see, what positions or areas the camera needs to look at, installation costs and the need for support lighting, you should be able to use these tips and possibly additional advice from a security professional to help you decide on the best CCTV system for your needs.

Roller Shutter doors are an excellent security feature that offers long-lasting protection, but to keep them running smoothly, they do need a bit of TLC now and then. Doors that are properly functioning and well maintained will offer better security and fewer maintenance costs.

Roller Shutter Door Tips

1. Firstly, the most important thing is that when choosing your roller shutter doors, you consider this as an investment, not an expense and you choose the best materials from the get go.

2. You should also conduct regular cleaning of the surfaces including the railing, tracks and rollers so that they continue to perform without issues.

3. Be sure to lubricate the moving parts on occasion to keep everything functioning smoothly. Be sure to choose an oil that also protects from rust and do not oil too often.

4. Be sure to notify your security door professionals of any damage, problems or concerns. They will be able to advise and assist you in any situation to ensure maximum protection.

As with any project or event, the best and first thing you should do is PLAN! Plan for what you do know, plan for what you think you know and plan for the unknown. The more you put into it, the safer the guests, crowd and venue will be.

To help you plan your security strategy:

• Know the venue inside and out- understand how ‘porous’ the venue is, referring to ways that people could gain access without using a typical entry point.

• Gauge attendee risk- are any of the guest speakers/performers a higher risk, with a controversial history. Also, look into suspicious activity such as bulk ticket buying.

• Control the crowd- keep guests away from crowding exit points, keep guests away from restricted areas and ensure entry is kept organised.

• Assess potential for large-scale attacks- bags should be checked upon entry and any weak points where someone could affect large amounts of people easily, should be monitored and controlled.

• Keep communication tight- constant comms are necessary and if using a professional security detail, ensure they have communications with the rest of the staff.

Protecting your home is always a top priority, that’s why we have put together a list of the best ways to keep your home safe from unwanted intruders.

CCTV- Installing a CCTV system in your own home is easier than ever. There are many cheap options that provide adequate protection and surveillance for your home. This footage can be used if needed to identify any criminal entering your home illegally.

Alarm- Alarm systems are a deterrent for any intruder as the loud sound creates attention towards your home. The alarm system can alert you directly to your home to make you aware if your alarm has gone off.

Sensored lights- Burglars like to work in the dark, so by adding light directly to the subject is automatically a deterrent to your home.

Locks- As simple as it sounds, but adding good quality locks on all entry points to your home is highly recommended. Difficult locks will make it harder for an intruder to enter your home, adding secure locks to any entry to your gardens is also a recommended security measure.
